simon - IT technical support analyst

I love helping people and I think this, in combination with my willingness to learn was what made me successful at interview with Claire's. At the time I was studying part-time for a post-graduate diploma in computing and wanted to gain some practical experience. I started on the helpdesk, initially on a temporary basis, which was the perfect place, since hands-on problem-solving was a daily challenge. I found that the ethos of the company suited me down to the ground and so, when the offer of a permanent position came up, I jumped at it.

Since then, the company has changed and grown rapidly and I have developed immeasurably as my line manager has initiated lots of training to help me hone my skills. In 2003, I was promoted to the IT Technical Team and now I work on large scale, fast moving projects, such as an overhaul of the entire Apple Mac System to bring us in-line with the US, which has involved me dealing with teams right across Europe.

One of the best things about working here is the supportive work environment - you never feel like you're on your own with anything and I actually look forward to coming to work on a Monday morning, which I think is priceless.
