1. Can I apply by post rather than online?

We'd like all job applications to be online. If that's not possible, you can post them to HR, Unit 4 Bromford Gate, Bromford Lane, Birmingham B24 8DW.

3. Can I apply for more than one role?

Yes, but the selection criteria may be very different, even if the jobs look similar. Have a good think about what sort of job you're best suited to and only apply for the ones you're really interested in.

You can find out more about typical roles in retail here and roles working in retail support here.

4. Can I apply if I don't have a full work permit?

Yes, but for us to take your application forward you must be able to show us that you're eligible to work in the country you've applied for.

5. What hours will I be expected to work?

It depends where you work. In our stores, Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers tend to work full time (5 days out of the 7 trading days), sometimes up until 10pm. As a Store Assistant, you'll work 3, 4 or 5 days per week. You will however, need to work weekends and, on occasion, late nights - especially around the Christmas period.

In our European Head Office, it's usually Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm, unless you're in our Distribution Centre, where you'll work on a shift pattern.

6. How old to I need to be to work in a Claire's store?

You must be legally allowed to leave school. If you're in a Claire's store, you must be at least 16 years old. This is because you'll learn to pierce ears and to get a licence you have to be 16 or over.

7. Do I really have to pierce ears?

Yes, if you want to work in a Claire's store.

8. So, what does ear-piercing involve?

It's quick, painless and there's no blood involved, and the equipment does the work for you. We only pierce the ear lobe and cartilage - no body piercing. We'll give you full training and plenty of practice before you do pierce your first ear.

9. What can I expect at an interview?

We'll want to know all about you, your background and why you're right for the job. And that's personality as well as experience. We'll expect you to ask us questions too. There's more information about the actual interview in the interview itself section.

10. If my application is unsuccessful, can I request feedback?

If you get to interview, we'll give you feedback. However, because of the number of applications we receive, we can't provide everyone with feedback.

11. What is the dress code at Claire's?

It depends where you're working. It's more casual in a store – it's a fashion environment after all. At our European Head Office, it can vary from fashionable wear to business attire, depending upon which area you work in. If you're joining our European Distribution Centre, you should wear whatever you feel comfortable working in. We'll provide you with a safety boots and high-visibility jacket.
