About us
A global high street fashion retailer, Claire’s specialises in accessories, jewellery and cosmetics for our target market of young girls and women. To date, we have over 3,000 stores; 460 stores in the UK and over 1,000 stores across Europe, and it doesn't stop there. Last year we opened 67 new stores and our expansion continues at an impressive rate, with plans to continue our European growth throughout the coming years. We have an incredible array of products – from jewellery and cosmetics to belts, bags and hair products, even footwear. And we buy them for 13 countries, all with different regional nuances and trends. This means that our Buyers gain a breadth of experience that few other retailers can offer.
About the role
Our European Head Office in Birmingham is where it all begins. Here, our dedicated European Buying Team is busy developing next season’s range to keep up with our fashion-savvy audience. You’ll work with Merchandisers to plan and create desirable product ranges that will stand out on our shelves. It’s up to you what appears in our stores, which will mean anticipating customers’ needs and interpreting market trends – all across Europe. You’ll be planning ranges up to three months in advance, must-have products that you’ll be confident enough to present to the Board. You could even find yourself travelling to the Far East, Europe and Chicago, sourcing and acquiring the latest products that our customers will snap up.
About you
Of course you’ll have solid experience as a Buyer, ideally gained in jewellery, accessories or fashion, with a major European fashion retailer. You’ll also be creative and innovative, with a strong ability to spot future trends and a love for the pace and excitement of the fashion buying world. Culturally you’ll embody the Claire’s European vision, achieving commercial success within your given product area – displaying the pace, energy, dynamism and intellect needed to keep up with such a fast moving market. And as well as a real insight into the European market, you’ll have experience of managing people and budgets, be an impressive commercial thinker, and be the first to suggest new ideas and ways of doing things.
